I just finished reading Leviticus myself not long ago. Thank you for putting into words some of the ideas I’ve been wrestling with too. Have a rich and blessed Easter weekend!

Very well said. Christ's sacrifice did what the law--and the sacrifices that came with it--was powerless to do.

Loren, thank you for showing me something new! Also.... GKC is always wonderful. Our local bookclub just wrapped up Orthodoxy and it was astounding. Happy and blessed Easter to you and yours!

This resonates with me so deeply. I was thinking about the “holy” smell in C.S. Lewis’s “Till We Have Faces” - Orual describes it as the smell of blood and smoke, thick and dark. It made me think about what the tabernacle/temple would have smelled like: like blood, like incense, like smoke, like the people who made long, exhausting, dusty journeys to get there. It made me wonder what heaven will smell like after the cleansing and restoration of Creation - fresh and clean, because of the Tree of Life and River of Life? Sweeter than anything we’ve ever known? No idea, but it will be glorious!

I really appreciate posts like this — posts that work through difficult questions rather than shy away from them. You taught me something beautiful in the process. Thank you, Loren!
